A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in São Paulo
A community-led a community fridge at Cedar Park that will serve 80 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 22 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 80 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $470
• Permits and inspections: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
• Tools hire and delivery: $60
