Santos

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $800. It will serve about 222 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $800 goes: • Materials: $480 • Permits and inspections: $70 • Safety equipment and signage: $125 • Tools hire and delivery: $125 Glad we found this place.
