A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Pittsburgh

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $3,350 for materials.

Pittsburgh
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,350. It will serve about 452 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $3,350 goes: • Materials: $2,500 • Permits and inspections: $270 • Safety equipment and signage: $400 • Tools hire and delivery: $180 Thanks for being kind about this.

Updates from Silvia

  1. Wanted to say thank you properly. 78% funded and I made the first payment toward permits and inspections.

  2. Quick update: $1,818 raised so far (54%). the plan for tools hire and delivery is now scheduled. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  3. Thank you all. We're at 19% now ($642). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward safety equipment and signage.
