Manila
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $400. It will serve about 224 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $400 goes: • Materials: $230 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $85 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

      • Good luck. Your post was clear and honest. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
