A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Leeds
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $2,850 for materials.
🇬🇧 England, United Kingdom666 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,850.
It will serve about 525 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,850 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $360
• Permits and inspections: $120
• Materials: $2,370
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
