A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Dwarka

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $450 for materials.

Dwarka

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 16 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 351 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $450 goes: • Permits and inspections: $40 • Safety equipment and signage: $70 • Materials: $340 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.
