A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Cluj-Napoca
A community-led a community fridge at the Union health centre yard that will serve 395 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $700.
It will serve about 395 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $700 goes:
• Materials: $400
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $155
• Tools hire and delivery: $105
