A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Brasília
A community-led a community fridge at Jacaranda Primary School that will serve 468 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Jacaranda Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $550.
It will serve about 468 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $550 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $85
• Materials: $360
• Permits and inspections: $105
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
