For five years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $150. It will serve about 330 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $150 goes: • Safety equipment and signage: $25 • Permits and inspections: $50 • Tools hire and delivery: $75 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • sending strength, Mercy. More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Berlin but we're thinking of you. Take care.
