Tyler lives with a spinal cord injury. The occupational therapist at the Bakersfield Mobility Clinic has assessed him and recommended a communication tablet with eye tracking. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $7,250.
His current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 6 weeks.
With the right equipment Tyler could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $7,250 goes:
• communication tablet with eye tracking: $6,500
• Fitting and training sessions: $220
• Delivery and set-up: $150
• First-year servicing plan: $380
