I'm Sheila, 19, in my final year of high school. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study public health. I have a distinction average, I volunteer at the local library and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work. I'm looking for an hour a week until September. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request. Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

thanks for sharing this, Sheila. Looking forward to the next update. I went through something like this 8 years ago and strangers helped me out.

        • Hang in there, Sheila. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My cousin had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Riyadh.

          • Thanks for sharing this, Sheila. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Take care.
