I'm Kobina, 17, in my final year of high school. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study journalism.
I have a top-of-class average, I volunteer at my church youth group and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work.
I'm looking for an hour a week until August. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request.
Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask.
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Thanks for sharing this, Kobina. Your post was clear and honest. Love from Gaziantep.
Sending strength. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day!
sending strength, Kobina. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier.
Rooting for you, Kobina. Shared this with my family. I'll check back for the next update!
