A cochlear implant processor upgrade for Shivam: help Shivam move freely
Shivam needs a cochlear implant processor upgrade that the health system won't fund; the cost is $150.
Anywhere in the world670 views
Shivam lives with multiple sclerosis. The occupational therapist at the Kanpur Rehabilitation Centre has assessed him and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $150.
His current equipment is 11 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined him to home for 7 weeks.
With the right equipment Shivam could go outside without waiting for someone to push. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $150 goes:
• First-year servicing plan: $55
• Delivery and set-up: $15
• Fitting and training sessions: $80
I hope life is good to you.
Updates from Aditi
Wanted to say thank you properly. 33% funded and the plan for fitting and training sessions is now scheduled.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($20 in total) I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Take care, Aditi. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I hope August is when things finally get easier. Take care.
Hang in there, Aditi. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Love from Jakarta Selatan.
Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Kanpur
Keep going, Aditi. Wishing Shivam a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Put this on a community board in Campinas this morning.
