Nalini lives with profound hearing loss. The occupational therapist at the Johannesburg Rehabilitation Centre has assessed her and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,200. Her current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 5 weeks. With the right equipment Nalini could join the school sports day. It would change everyday life for the whole family. We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest. Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing. Where the $1,200 goes: • cochlear implant processor upgrade: $990 • Fitting and training sessions: $85 • Delivery and set-up: $45 • First-year servicing plan: $80 Every share and every dollar helps.

Cochlear implant processor upgrade is $990 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Appreciate you taking the time.

          • You're not alone, Lwazi. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. After 16 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Blessings.
