A cochlear implant processor upgrade for Lata: help Lata move freely
Lata needs a cochlear implant processor upgrade that the health system won't fund; the cost is $450.
🇮🇳 Mumbai, Maharashtra, India784 views
Lata lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at Mumbai General Hospital has assessed her and recommended a cochlear implant processor upgrade. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $450.
Her current equipment is 15 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment Lata could speak with the people around her. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.
Where the $450 goes:
• cochlear implant processor upgrade: $350
• Fitting and training sessions: $40
• Delivery and set-up: $35
• First-year servicing plan: $25
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Thinking of you and your family, Seema. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Wish I lived closer to Madina so I could bring a meal
Hope things get better soon, Seema. Gave what I could, wish it was more.
Stay strong, Seema. Looking forward to the next update. My neighbor in Addis Ababa donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Munich.
Hope things get better soon. This could happen to any of us. Thinking of Mumbai.
