A braille note-taker for Portia: help Portia move freely
A braille note-taker would give Portia independence - we're $100 away.
🇬🇭 Madina, Greater Accra, Ghana1,556 views
Portia lives with an amputation below the knee. The occupational therapist at Madina General Hospital has assessed her and recommended a braille note-taker. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $100.
Her current equipment is 9 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined her to home for 3 weeks.
With the right equipment Portia could go to school independently. It would change everyday life for the whole family.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $100 goes:
• First-year servicing plan: $40
• Delivery and set-up: $30
• Fitting and training sessions: $30
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

Updates from Daniel
Wanted to say thank you properly. 30% funded and I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($35 in total) I made the first payment toward fitting and training sessions. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. We're a small family in Casablanca but we're thinking of you. Blessings.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Portia.
It's all in the list in the story. first-year servicing plan is the big one at $40, I'll post a receipt when it's paid. Thanks for asking.
hope it all works out, Daniel. Shared it with a few friends. Blessings!
