I live with a rare neuromuscular condition. My occupational therapist at the Curitiba Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a braille note-taker. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $1,450.
My current equipment is 12 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 4 weeks.
With the right equipment I could join the school sports day. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
I'll pay the supplier directly from the funds, and I'll post a photo once the equipment is delivered.
Where the $1,450 goes:
• braille note-taker: $1,150
• Fitting and training sessions: $130
• Delivery and set-up: $50
• First-year servicing plan: $120
