We're short of hands for the Refugee Welcome Picnic; can you spare a morning?

Every year the Refugee Welcome Picnic brings together 351 neighbors in Corpus Christi. I help organize it with 5 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for serving food, washing up and welcoming guests. Shifts are two to three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a long-standing tradition, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

  • Sending love. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. All the best

    • Hope things get better soon, Charles. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We're a small family in Sandton but we're thinking of you. Greetings from Sandton

      • Hang in there. More neighborhoods should do this. I'll check back for the next update. Blessings

        • Shared it with a few friends. Sent it to 39 people at work. Blessings

            • Rooting for you, Charles. Your post was clear and honest. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Thinking of Corpus Christi.

              • Hang in there. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 18 years in hospitality I know how hard it's to ask for anything. All the best.

                • Hope it all works out. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Love from Birmingham

                  • Shared this with my family. Thinking of Corpus Christi
