We're short of hands for the Refugee Welcome Picnic; can you spare a morning?

Every year the Refugee Welcome Picnic brings together 500 neighbors in Tuxtla Gutiérrez. I help organize it with 9 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for stewarding, first-aid support and clean-up. Shifts are two to three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a family-friendly day, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Hope it all works out, Lorena. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best.

    • Keep going, Lorena. More neighborhoods should do this. After 27 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.

      • Thinking of you and your family, Lorena. Hope you get there.

        • rooting for you, Lorena. Hope this works out for you. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.
