Zeynep was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in February. The surgeon at Istanbul University Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for May. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $2,250, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,350 short. my mother has been in and out of Istanbul University Hospital since February. The doctors say a benign brain tumor will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $2,250 is more than we can find. While we wait, Zeynep struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. During that time Zeynep won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
