Yusuke needs a lift to the Sapporo Dialysis Unit - can you help one day a week?

A rota of drivers to the Sapporo Dialysis Unit would keep Yusuke on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Yusuke has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to the Sapporo Dialysis Unit alone. After a foot amputation, Yusuke can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 31 km each way. Yusuke is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

  • Thinking of you. Shared this with my family. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of Sapporo.

    • So sorry you're going through this. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. Love from Kaduna

      • Hang in there. Wishing Yusuke a smooth procedure and a full recovery. Please keep us posted.

        • Stay strong, Yumi. Shared this with my family. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

          • Hang in there, Yumi. Looking forward to the next update. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best
