I coordinate donations at Pioneer Refugee Centre in Manukau. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes kids' 3 to 5 and women's S-L. If you're in Manukau, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at Pioneer Refugee Centre on Sunday between 11am and 3pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the Pioneer Refugee Centre clothing bank, which is open to everyone. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • Looking forward to the next update. Thinking of Manukau.

    • Sending strength. Shared this with my family. Put this on a community board in Lalitpur this morning. Greetings from Lalitpur.

      • Thinking of you. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I went through something like this 2 years ago and strangers helped me out.

        • You're not alone, Charlotte. Hope you get there. All the best.

          • Good luck, Charlotte. Shared it with a few friends. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Take care
