I coordinate donations at the Unity Community Church in Bakersfield. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes kids' 3 to 5 and women's S-L. If you're in Bakersfield, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at the Unity Community Church on Tuesday between 11am and 4pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the the Unity Community Church clothing bank, which is open to everyone. Glad we found this place.

  • Best of luck, Elias. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. God bless

    • Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. My neighbor in Kansas City donated after I showed her your page.

      • Wishing you the best, Elias. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Wish I lived closer to Minneapolis so I could bring a meal. Thinking of Bakersfield

        • You're not alone, Elias. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.
