I coordinate donations at the Unity Community Church in Cologne. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled.
We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 2 to 14 years. If you're in Cologne, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at the Unity Community Church on Saturday between 9am and 4pm.
If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate.
Items go to families directly and the rest to the the Unity Community Church clothing bank, which is open to everyone.
Glad we found this place.

So sorry you're going through this, Elisabeth. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Cologne
