I coordinate donations at the Union Mosque in Barranquilla. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes kids' 3 to 5 and women's S-L. If you're in Barranquilla, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at the Union Mosque on Sunday between 9am and 4pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the the Union Mosque clothing bank, which is open to everyone. Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Sending good thoughts. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Put this on a community board in San Francisco this morning. All the best.

          • Keep going, Verónica. Looking forward to the next update. My husband and I read this together. All the best.

            • I hope your landlord gives you a bit more time while this comes together. After 23 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Barranquilla
