I coordinate donations at Maple Women's Shelter in London. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes 2 to 14 years. If you're in London, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at Maple Women's Shelter on Monday between 11am and 3pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the Maple Women's Shelter clothing bank, which is open to everyone. Thanks for being kind about this.

  • So sorry you're going through this. I hope things turn around soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care.

Hang in there, Josephine. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Thinking of London.

Best of luck, Josephine. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of London

You're not alone. Your post was clear and honest. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust.

          • Hope things get better soon. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Love from Bogra.

            • You're not alone, Josephine. Shared this with my family. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
