Weekly meals for neighbors in need in Iztapalapa
Emilio runs a volunteer pantry feeding 362 families; this fund restocks shelves for the school holidays.

Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Bread & Beans Kitchen every Thursday from the back of the mosque courtyard. We started with 23 families, and now we feed 362 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 37% this school holidays, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 10 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Iztapalapa market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $800 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $490
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $190
• Baby formula and diapers: $70
• Refrigeration and electricity: $50
