Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Petrópolis
Jéssica runs a volunteer pantry feeding 334 families; this fund restocks shelves for the harvest gap.

Since 2023, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Thursday from the back of the old library basement. We started with 27 families, and now we feed 334 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 52% this harvest gap, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 18 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Petrópolis market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $700 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $300
• Baby formula and diapers: $90
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $310
Thank you for reading my story.

Great idea, hope you get there. I'm in customer support myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.
projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We're a small family in Eindhoven but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Petrópolis.
take care. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Don't give up.
Take care, Jéssica. This could happen to any of us. God bless!
hang in there, Jéssica. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My neighbor in Nagoya donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
