Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Niterói
The Neighbors' Pantry pantry in Niterói is running low just as demand rises; $900 will stock it for 11 weeks.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Neighbors' Pantry every Tuesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 19 families, and now we feed 279 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 56% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 20 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Niterói market and keep every receipt.
Each $10 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $900 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $130
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $220
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $550
