Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Medan
Candra runs a volunteer pantry feeding 399 families; this fund restocks shelves for the summer.

Since 2019, our volunteer team has run the Thursday Table every Friday from the back of a community center. We started with 29 families, and now we feed 399 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 57% this summer, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 6 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Medan market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $200 goes:
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $70
• Refrigeration and electricity: $45
• Baby formula and diapers: $85
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Thinking of you and your family, Candra. Great idea, hope you get there.
Take care, Candra. I hope things turn around soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Is there anything that isn't money that would help Candra?
Thank you. If you're in Medan I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Let me know if you want more detail.
Wishing you the best. Shared this with my family. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
Keep going. Looking forward to the next update. Sent it to 24 people at work. All the best.

Hope it all works out. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double
sending strength. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Love from Jaipur

Sending strength. More neighborhoods should do this. Blessings

This could happen to any of us. Wish I lived closer to Tarragona so I could bring a meal. Take care
