Since 2020, our volunteer team has run Community Pantry every Thursday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 10 families, and now we feed 320 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 58% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Bucaramanga market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $950 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $460
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $300
• Baby formula and diapers: $90
• Refrigeration and electricity: $100

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale) comes first ($460) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Let me know if you want more detail.
