We lost everything in the storm: help the Eastgate settlement start over
Neighbors in the Eastgate settlement are rebuilding after the storm; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The storm hit the Eastgate settlement on 10 August. My home was one of 17 damaged, and 2 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $4,000 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $1,450
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $1,200
• Tools and labor for repairs: $990
• Clean water and purification supplies: $360
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

How is Amir doing now?
Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Greetings from Kinondoni.
Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Amir.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. roofing sheets and timber comes first ($1,450) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Thanks for asking.
Hang in there, Amir. Great idea, hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Birmingham.
Wishing you peace. Looking forward to the next update. I hope November is when things finally get easier. Greetings from Nice.
hope it all works out. Looking forward to the next update. Love from San Diego.
