We lost everything in the house fire that spread across the block: help the Sunrise district start over
Neighbors in the Sunrise district are rebuilding after the house fire that spread across the block; every contribution goes to materials and supplies.

The house fire that spread across the block hit the Sunrise district on 23 August. My home was one of 87 damaged, and 7 families are still in temporary shelter at a mosque and church hall.
The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming.
Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before.
We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy.
Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters.
Where the $700 goes:
• Roofing sheets and timber: $340
• Clean water and purification supplies: $70
• Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $70
• Food parcels for displaced families: $95
• Tools and labor for repairs: $125
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Thank you all. We're at 9% now ($65). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.
Small update. $213 so far, I made the first payment toward food parcels for displaced families.

Sending strength, Mehwish. Hope this works out for you. I'm in nursing myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Islamabad.
Good luck. Great idea, hope you get there. We're a small family in São Paulo but we're thinking of you.
Praying for you, Mehwish. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. My husband and I read this together.
