I coordinate donations at the Pioneer Mosque in Birmingham. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes kids' 3 to 5 and women's S-L. If you're in Birmingham, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at the Pioneer Mosque on Monday between 10am and 4pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the the Pioneer Mosque clothing bank, which is open to everyone. Glad we found this place.

  • Praying for you, Sadie. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.

    • Thinking of you and your family, Sadie. Rent stress is the worst. Hope this helps. After 30 years in nursing I know how hard it is to ask for anything.
