Istanbul
I coordinate donations at Baobab Refugee Centre in Istanbul. Every year around this time we hear from families who have nothing warm for their children, and this year demand has more than doubled. We're collecting clean, gently used or new coats, boots, hats, gloves and scarves in sizes toddler through teen. If you're in Istanbul, we can arrange a pick-up or you can drop things at Baobab Refugee Centre on Thursday between 11am and 2pm. If you're elsewhere, you may offer to sponsor a coat through a local shop - message in the comments and we can coordinate. Items go to families directly and the rest to the Baobab Refugee Centre clothing bank, which is open to everyone. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

  • Best of luck, Meltem. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Put this on a community board in San Diego this morning. Take care.

    • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Istanbul.

      • keep going. I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Bekasi but we're thinking of you.

          • Wishing you the best, Meltem. This could happen to any of us. Sent it to 6 people at work.
