Volunteers needed to fix a leaking roof for Jamal in Mandeville

Jamal, a single mother of three, needs a few skilled and unskilled helpers for a 1-weekend roof repair in Mandeville.

🇯🇲 Manchester, Jamaica1,513 views
I'm a single mother of three living in Mandeville. During the last storm water started coming through the ceiling in 4 places, and the kids' bedroom is no longer usable. A roofer quoted $940, which isn't something I can pay. The good news: a local hardware store has donated the corrugated iron sheets and timber. What I don't have is people to do the work. I'm looking for 4-6 people who can help over a weekend. Experience helps, but it isn't essential - I'll have a licensed roofer supervising for safety. All you need is to be comfortable with heights or willing to help from the ground. I'll provide lunch, water and lots of thanks. The work will be done on the ground and roof with proper harnesses. If you can only help for a few hours, that's welcome too. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Hope it all works out, Jamal. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Johannesburg.

    • Take care, Jamal. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. All the best.

      • I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings.
