Sultana needs dialysis three times a week and has lost the ability to drive; volunteer drivers can each take one day.

Sultana has been on dialysis for 2 years and until recently drove to the Dhaka Dialysis Unit alone. After surgery on their hand, Sultana can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 17 km each way. Sultana is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Glad we found this place.

  • You're not alone, Sabina. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Dhaka!
