Volunteer drivers wanted: Shirley's dialysis appointments
A rota of drivers to the Tampa Dialysis Unit would keep Shirley on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.
🇺🇸 33604, Tampa, Florida, United States740 views
Shirley has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to the Tampa Dialysis Unit alone. After a minor stroke, Shirley can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week.
We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 26 km each way.
Shirley is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food.
Please say which day works for you in the comments.
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
- effort
- one weekly trip
- format
- In person in Tampa

You're not alone, Harold. Hope the doctors have good news. All the best.
Rooting for you. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I hope November is when things finally get easier
Best of luck, Harold. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. Greetings from Sacramento.
