Could you drive Omar to Regina General Hospital on Friday? A rota of 6 drivers is forming.

Omar has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to Regina General Hospital alone. After surgery on their hand, Omar can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 18 km each way. Omar is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Thank you for reading my story.

  • Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. I'll check back for the next update. Thinking of Regina.

    • hope the doctors have good news. Wish I lived closer to Pasig so I could bring a meal. Take care.

      • Thinking of you and your family. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't be hard on yourself for asking.

        • Hope it all works out, Samira. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Greetings from Pune

          • Best of luck, Samira. Wishing Omar a smooth procedure and a full recovery. I'll check back for the next update. Love from Manukau.
