Volunteer drivers wanted: Jolanda's dialysis appointments

A rota of drivers to the Amsterdam Dialysis Unit would keep Jolanda on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.

Jolanda has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to the Amsterdam Dialysis Unit alone. After surgery on their hand, Jolanda can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 28 km each way. Jolanda is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Thank you so much.

  • Hope the doctors have good news. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Greetings from Auckland!

    • I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 12 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Love from Liverpool.

So sorry you're going through this. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My neighbor in Fortaleza donated after I showed her your page. Greetings from Fortaleza.
