Ethan has been on dialysis for 5 years and until recently drove to Dallas General Hospital alone. After a minor stroke, Ethan can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 13 km each way. Ethan is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Best of luck, Jose. Wishing Ethan a smooth procedure and a full recovery. After 13 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Greetings from Cork!

    • Take care. I hope things turn around soon. I'm in retail myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you.

      • Thinking of you and your family. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. Thinking of Dallas!

        • Sending love. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I went through something like this 6 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.

          • Sending good thoughts. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best!
