Cristina has been on dialysis for 1 years and until recently drove to Austin General Hospital alone. After a minor stroke, Cristina can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 13 km each way. Cristina is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

So sorry you're going through this. Looking forward to the next update. Sent it to 26 people at work. Thinking of Austin

    • take care. Hope this works out for you. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best

      • Praying for you, Mariana. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.

        • hope things get better soon. Hope this works out for you. After 23 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
