Volunteer drivers wanted: Byaruhanga's dialysis appointments
A rota of drivers to Embakasi Regional Medical Center would keep Byaruhanga on treatment. Even one trip a week helps.
🇰🇪 Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya756 views
Byaruhanga has been on dialysis for 4 years and until recently drove to Embakasi Regional Medical Center alone. After an eyesight problem, Byaruhanga can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week.
We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 4 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 26 km each way.
Byaruhanga is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food.
Please say which day works for you in the comments.
Thank you so much.

Sending good thoughts. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.
Wishing you peace. Get well soon. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Take care
Hang in there. Wishing Byaruhanga a smooth procedure and a full recovery. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Quezon City.
Take care, Salim. Get well soon. All the best
shared this with my family. We're a small family in Lahore but we're thinking of you. Take care
keep going. Looking forward to the next update. It's not much but it's yours. Thinking of Embakasi!
stay strong, Salim. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Sending strength. Hope the doctors have good news. Greetings from Nakuru
so sorry you're going through this, Salim. I hope things turn around soon. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Sapporo.
Sending good thoughts. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Embakasi.
