Could you drive Alexa to the Bronx Dialysis Unit on Wednesday? A rota of 4 drivers is forming.

Alexa has been on dialysis for 3 years and until recently drove to the Bronx Dialysis Unit alone. After a foot amputation, Alexa can no longer drive. Taxis cost more than the family can pay three times a week. We're building a rota of volunteer drivers. Each session is 3 hours, including the trip there and back; most volunteers take one regular day. The journey is about 9 km each way. Alexa is cheerful company. You'd need a car in good condition and a clean driving record. We'll cover your fuel costs, and the family will send you home with homemade food. Please say which day works for you in the comments. I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

  • Hang in there. This could happen to any of us. I have a 8 year old who wants to send good wishes too.

    • thinking of you and your family, Eli. Look after yourselves too, caregivers need rest. Take care.

      • Hope things get better soon, Eli. Hope the doctors have good news. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care
