Every year the School Supplies Giveaway brings together 317 neighbors in Petrópolis. I help organize it with 9 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for serving food, washing up and welcoming guests. Shifts are four hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a long-standing tradition, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Good luck, Miguel. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. Take care

    • Hope it all works out, Miguel. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 30 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Petrópolis.

      • take care. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

        • It takes guts to ask. Well done. Sent it to 27 people at work.

          • You're not alone, Miguel. Shared this with my family. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.

            • Rooting for you, Miguel. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I hope August is when things finally get easier.

              • Best of luck, Miguel. Great idea, hope you get there

                • Thanks for sharing this, Miguel. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Greetings from Lagos.

                  • You're not alone, Miguel. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Petrópolis.
