Every year the School Supplies Giveaway brings together 352 neighbors in Los Angeles. I help organize it with 7 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for set-up, serving, translation and clean-up. Shifts are two to three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a long-standing tradition, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

  • Hope you get there. Put this on a community board in Athens this morning. Thinking of Los Angeles.

    • Thinking of you, Douglas. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.

rooting for you. More neighborhoods should do this. God bless.

        • you're not alone, Douglas. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. My husband and I read this together.

          • praying for you, Douglas. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. All the best.
