Our small team in Toronto is running the Refugee Welcome Picnic and needs volunteers for set-up, serving and clean-up.

Every year the Refugee Welcome Picnic brings together 531 neighbors in Toronto. I help organize it with 5 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for registration, sorting donations and carrying boxes. Shifts are three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a long-standing tradition, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. Thanks for being kind about this.

  • Hope things get better soon, Jackson. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I went through something like this 11 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best.

    • Wishing you peace, Jackson. Shared this with my family. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Take care.

      • Good luck. More neighborhoods should do this. Don't be hard on yourself for asking. Take care.
