Volunteer day: Refugee Welcome Picnic, Toledo

We're short of hands for the Refugee Welcome Picnic; can you spare a morning?

Every year the Refugee Welcome Picnic brings together 294 neighbors in Toledo. I help organize it with 7 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for stewarding, first-aid support and clean-up. Shifts are two to three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a fun day for all ages, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. Thank you for reading my story.

  • Wishing you peace, Leonardo. Shared this with my family. Put this on a community board in Glasgow this morning. Blessings.

    • shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Mumbai so I could bring a meal.

      • Rooting for you, Leonardo. Shared this with my family. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

        • Great idea, hope you get there. I have a 9 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.

          • Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. God bless
