Every year the Community Soup Kitchen Night brings together 250 neighbors in Oakland. I help organize it with 6 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down. We need people for registration, sorting donations and carrying boxes. Shifts are three hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers. It's a fun day for all ages, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day. If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you. Glad we found this place.

    Truly grateful for the support

I was going through a tough time and this person's support was invaluable. They didn't judge, just helped. That kind of genuine compassion is rare these days.
