I'm caring for me, who's 94. After worsening Parkinson's disease Vincent can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Vincent desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 30 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Vincent worked all of his life as a factory worker, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for eight months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $2,450 goes:
• Part-time carer (eight months): $1,700
• Medication and prescriptions: $540
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $210
